A Message from the Friends

The Friends of the Homewood Library (FoHL) have conducted biannual used book sales in the mezzanine of the current library for more than 15 years. The popular sales have offered a wide variety of books, magazines, records and other items at bargain prices. Materials for sale consist of donations and library discards, collected and sorted by a dedicated group of volunteers working year-round.

As the library has continued to grow and to find new ways of serving the community, its collection has grown to occupy more and more of the building. Initially, the FoHL book sales commanded the entire mezzanine. In recent years the available space has decreased, and further reductions are planned as part of the library’s ongoing reconfiguration. As a result, the FoHL book sales are adapting to new circumstances.

 
 

Friends Book Sales

The Friends will sponsor two book sales on the same day at the Library on Saturday, September 4, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.  On the mezzanine level sale items will include specially priced books, records, movies, CD’s, etc., and in the meeting room look for our Quarterly Dollar Daze Sale featuring items for $1.00 or less.

The Friends of the Homewood Library participate in an Internet traffic referral service with Amazon.com. One of the first major companies to sell goods over the Internet when it launched in 1995, Amazon began as an online bookstore. Over the years it's grown to add DVDs, music CDs, computer software, video games, electronics, apparel, furniture, food, toys and more.
