The Homewood Public Library
Who, Where and When
The Homewood Public Library is located in the heart of downtown Homewood at 17917 Dixie Highway. A member of the RAILS: Reaching Across Illinois Library System, we are one of the busiest libraries in the south suburban area. We provide traditional materials, activities, and services, while continually integrating cutting-edge technology and virtual library services. Our dynamic collection reflects our diverse community.
For hours of operation, basic contact information, links to maps, and information about when the library is closed, see the information links at the bottom of this Web page.
Our Past, Present, and Future
Since its humble beginnings in 1920, the Homewood Library has seen much growth, both in size and technology. We are once again in the midst of growth and change in an effort to better serve the people of Homewood, East Hazel Crest, and the surrounding communities.
With the support of our patrons, it is our goal to continue to provide this community with a top-notch facility. Our Vision and Mission statement showcases our commitment to the people of Homewood and East Hazel Crest, as well as the neighboring area.
Adminstration
The Library is governed by the Homewood Library Board of Trustees, the East Hazel Crest Board of Trustees, and our Administrative Librarian, Amy Crump. These dedicated individuals work diligently to maintain the high standards that the Homewood Public Library has long been known for.
The Homewood Library operates according to the policies set forth by the Board of Trustees.
Friends of Homewood Library
We are also fortunate to have a very dedicated group of volunteers known as the Friends of the Homewood Library. This wonderful group is responsible for all of those book sales that our patrons love so much. Their tireless efforts are truly appreciated by the staff and administration.
